Jack has had an adventurous journey. He grew up in Michigan and started shooting photography professionally at 16. Some of the highlights of his life and career include:
- Spending time on a commune in New Mexico; lived as a ski bum in Colorado;
- Hitchhiked through Europe; worked on several private yachts on East Coast,
- Great Lakes, Inside Passage (British Columbia); skied in Argentina; flyfishing in
- Alaska, British Columbia, Kiribati, Russia, Montana, Oregon, Washington;
- mountain biking; 3 grown boys; heavily into photography since age 10
